Laurel Miller is Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Management Information Systems (MIS) at the Fox School of Business, Temple University, and Director, Institute for Business and Information Technology (IBIT).

Laurel teaches Data-Centric Application Development, Data Science, and MIS Industry Experience at the undergraduate level and Information Technology Management at the graduate level. She is also one of the managers of the Temple Community Platform. As part of this project, she co-created a software platform, which recently received a patent, and is co-founder of a Temple University spinoff – PRO Community, LLC on student and employee development.

As Director of IBIT, Laurel manages industry engagement including a corporate partnership program, IT advisory board, IT awards, executive-in-residence, IT Symposium Series, IBIT Scholarships, and corporate training. Laurel co-founded IBIT after it was restructured in 2004 and has raised more than $6 million in funding.  In 2019, IBIT inaugurated the Digital Innovation Foundry, whose mission is to generate innovation by assessing, integrating, and prototyping digital technologies.

In 2023, Laurel won the Musser Award for Excellence in Faculty Service.  In 2017, Laurel won the Faculty Teaching Award from the MIS department at the annual IT Awards Reception.  Laurel won the ACM Student Organization Outstanding Service Award in 2001. She also won the MIS Administrative Leadership Award in 2001 and 2003. She earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Education degrees from Temple University.
